Music at Eden's Edge

French Connection1We are honored to be participating in the annual summer music series produced by Music at Eden’s Edge. This North Shore institution has brought great music to communities north of Boston for three decades. In the past, the emphasis has mostly been on the string repertoire. We introduce a program with absolutely no strings attached.

For these three concerts we will continue with the French theme, opening with Lefebvre’s charming Suite for Wind Quintet and replacing Poulenc’s Sextuor with Paul Taffanel’s Quintet in g minor. Taffanel was a virtuoso flautist, whose Quintet is one of the great romantic works for wind ensemble – a classic of the quintet repertoire.

Suite for Wind Quintet by Charles-Edouard Lefebvre
Variations on a Free Theme by Eugene Bozza
La Cheminee du Roi Rene by Darius Milhaud
Quintet by Paul Taffenel
